Bio

Congressman Joseph Morelle represents New York’s 25th Congressional District, which includes almost the entirety of Monroe County surrounding the City of Rochester. Elected in 2018, Rep. Morelle currently serves as a member of the House Committee on Rules, the House Committee on Budget, and the House Committee on Education and Labor. He is a co-sponsor of the American Manufacturing Leadership Act (introduced in the current Congress) which focuses on supporting the Manufacturing USA Institutes. Prior to his Congressional role, Rep. Morelle was a member of the NYS Assembly for 28 years, including Serving as Majority leader. He supported the State’s creation of RIT’s Center of Excellence in Advanced and Sustainable Manufacturing and its investment in the Golisano Institute for Sustainability. He has been is a leader in promoting remanufacturing industries for many years, including working with New York toner cartridge remanufacturers to investigate barriers to competition that were keeping these valuable companies out of the marketplace, securing over $400,000 for RIT’s C3R remanufacturing center, and authoring a state law which prioritized the purchase of remanufactured commodities through the state procurement process.
